Annual health checks also give our Veterinarians the opportunity to discuss your pet’s heartworm prevention, flea and tick prevention, intestinal worming and other important aspects of your pet’s health.
Whether your pet requires a routine desexing procedure or a more complicated surgery, they will be treated with gold standard care at Tamworth Vet Hospital. Our team perform a wide range of surgical procedures including:
Desexing
Cesarians
A range of soft-tissue surgeries
A range of orthopaedic procedures
During surgery your pets safety is our top priority. At Tamworth Vet Hospital, your pet has access to state-of-the-art anaesthetic machines and monitoring equipment.
While under anaesthesia your pet is cared for by one of our qualified and experienced veterinary nurses using our monitoring system, which tracks blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, body temperature and oxygen level.
We have an extensive array of in house pathology machines. Almost all tests you require can be completed in the clinic, giving both clients and patients a quick diagnosis. Some of our testing abilities include; Progesterone, hematology, biochemistry, faecal analysis, urinalysis and blood gas assessment.
Tamworth Vet Hospital has invested in the latest veterinary digital radiology machines that take high quality, detailed radiographs (x-rays) of your pet. This can be done both in clinic and on farm. Digital x-rays produce high-quality images that result in faster, more accurate and less-stressful diagnosis of your pet’s condition.
Ultrasound is a safe non- invasive way to assist in the diagnosis of many conditions. It is most useful for looking at soft tissue structures and organs such as the liver, kidney, bladder and heart. We also use ultrasound to diagnose pregnancies, perform echocardiography and assist with abdominal assessment.
Video endoscopy is another tool that we have access to. This allows us to look at parts of your pets body that are often otherwise difficult to see. It allows a minimally invasive approach to confirm diseases, remove foreign bodies and is another tool in imaging.
Electrocardiography is possible with our quality ultrasound. The ability to define and measure the anatomical structures within your pets heart is achieved with this machine. It helps us to make medical plans or diagnoses of otherwise difficult heart conditions.
Periodontal disease is the most common oral issue in dogs. It is caused by the buildup of plaque and tartar on the teeth, which triggers inflammation. Periodontitis can result in gum infections, bone loss and, if left untreated over time, the loss of teeth and other serious health problems.
A well balanced diet is essential for healthy growth and development in our pets. Nutrition helps keep our pets fit and healthy and reduces the risk of diseases such as skin complaints, stomach disorders, dental disease and weight problems. The right balance of nutrients is determined by the age, breed, physical condition and lifestyle of your pet.
At Tamworth Vet Hospital we stock and can recommend a range of premium pet foods to suit all your pet’s needs.
